Like most girls I dreamed of having a Quinceañera and wearing a beautiful princess dress. However, my reality was far away from my dream. My family was very poor; my father a mechanic and my mother a stay-home-mom, we were already struggling to put food on the table. I was the oldest of three sisters and we always wore second hand clothes that family and friends brought to us.
On my 15 Birthday, only my mother had remembered, and sadly there was no party or Quince dress. As her gift to me she had given me a little pendant with my name on it. I knew that was the most she could give me and for that I am forever THANKFUL.
As times got harder, when I turned 17 years old, I came to the U.S. to help my family have a better future. Years passed by and in 2015 when I realized my daughter’s Quince party was coming, I saw the need for more Quince stores in the East Valley.
Since most of the Quinceañera stores are located in Phoenix, the planning process for my daughters Quince was complicated due to the remoteness of the shops, heavy traffic and the intense heat. At that time I had a stable job in a hospital working as a Medical Interpreter so taking time off work wasn't convenient.
After my daughter’s Quince and my wedding in April 2016, I couldn’t help to think that many families were also going through the same thing I went through. I always had a PASSION for helping people and I thought this could make a difference in my community!
So together with my husband and I, we took a leap of faith and in September 16th, 2017 Divas Quinceañeras YMJ was born. YMJ are the initials of my children Yoanna, Michael, and Jessica. They are my greatest LOVE and INSPIRATION in my life.
We continue to serve the East Valley (and those in Phoenix) with great joy. Thank you for supporting our locally owned business! The support of our community has meant the world to our family operated business.
